DentistA dentist is responsible for examining, diagnosing and treating a patient’s teeth, gums and mouth tissue for disease and injuries.

Depending on their preference, dentists can work in their own office as General Practitioners or work as part of a larger dental group in specialized areas of study as an Orthodontist, Endodontist, Oral Pathologist, Oral Surgeon, Pedontist, Periodontist, Prosthodontist or Public Health Dentist.

Regardless of their type of dental practice, they must know how to treat a wide variety of dental needs by using a variety of technologically advanced dental equipment.

Career Details
Degree:Bachelor's Degree or at least 2 years of predental education with classes in Biology or Chemistry, PLUS receive license from a 4-year dental school accredited by the American Dental Association (ADA)
Job Activities:Diagnose and treat oral injuries and diseases
Administer anesthetics, injections and other medication
Perform corrective surgery on gums and restore teeth
Prescribe and recommend drugs for oral treatment
Provide advice on proper oral healthcare
