Businessweek.com’s Best Young Entrepreneurs of 2008

Is it possible to make flavored plastic? Can you make money just by writing about your favorite sports teams? Did you ever think a college assignment could turn into your own profitable business?

A few young entrepreneurs under 25 have answered these questions and more, and they’re making huge waves in the business world.CampusLive

Businessweek.com recently published its list of finalists for “America’s Best Young Entrepreneurs 2008,” and here are a few of the finalists and their companies:

  • AddtheFlavor.com - With help from Tim Osswald, a University of Wisconsin plastics expert, Cory Capasso (21) created PolyFlav plastic that could emit flavors!
  • BleacherReport.com - After graduating college, four high school friends, Bryan Goldberg (25),  Zander Freund (25), David Finocchio (25;) and David Nemetz (24),  created their own sports coverage website.
  • Studio28Couture - Andrea Marron (23) holds a full-time job as an applications engineer, but in her spare time she sells custom-made dresses online.
  • CampusLive.com - What started as a hobby at the University of Massachusetts turned into a full-fledged business for founders Jeff Cassidy (23), Boris Revsin (22) and Jared Stenquist (23), who founded Campus Live to help college students find college services and local businesses near their school.
  • GrooveShark.com - Sam Tarantino (21) and Josh Greenberg (21) created a music sharing networks that delivers a portion of download sales to the copyright holder. Not too bad for two students that took a leave of absence from the University of Florida!
